Melancholia Opening Sequence

Went to a parent and baby screening of Melancholia last thursday at Rio Cinema in Dalston (parent and baby cinema is my new favourite thing to do in London, even if most of the time I can’t hear some of the dialogues.) I’m a fan of Lars Von Trier since the Dogma 95 phase, and I was happily surprised that he used the Antichrist treatment here as well. The opening sequence in super slow-motion is a highly stylised summary of the rest of the film, a very romantic vision of an impeding Apocalypse – it hasn’t got out of my head since. Bravo.
